Are you in the process of planning an RV trip? If you are, is this your first time doing this? If it is, you may have a number of questions. One of the most common questions asked by any RVer going somewhere they have not been before being where to stay. When you are planning RV travel, you can take comfort in knowing that there are a number of different overnight rv park and campground options.
One of the most common places for RVers to stay is an RV park. RV parks are similar to standard campgrounds; however, they are designed with motor homes in mind. One of the biggest differences between traditional campgrounds and RV parks is the number of camping spaces available, as well as the size of those spaces, which is often much larger. However, it is also important to know that not every place you want to visit will have one.
Plan Ahead For Rv Parks And Campgrounds
Should you decide to stay overnight at an RV park, you are going to need to plan in advance. This is particularly important in late spring, summer, and early fall. These times are known as being popular RV travel dates. RV parks and campgrounds are increasing in popularity, and many fill up with reservations. In fact, most campgrounds and RV parks will fill their entire weekend slots well in advance of the prime travel season. To help ensure that you have a place to stay each night of your trip, it is advised to get your reservations well in advance of your travel date.
Traditional campgrounds are similar to RV parks. For that reason, you will want to include them in your search. This especially true since in some areas that will be the only option. Many campgrounds are designed to include a number of RVers in their mix. They do this by setting aside a number of larger spaces that are able to fit most standard motor homes.
As with staying at an RV park, it is important to plan ahead, when looking to stay at a campground. This is particularly important, as many campgrounds are limited on the number of motor home accommodations they have. To help ensure that you have a spot you will want to make reservations early. It is also important to realize that most campgrounds and RV parks do not technically require a reservation but they are usually fully booked each weekend of the prime travel season. This has become even more true post-Covid when more people are looking to travel than ever before.
RV Travel Can Offer No Cost Options For Overnight
Another option that you have, when looking to stay in your RV overnight, is speaking to those that you know. Is your RV trip to visit long-distance friends and relatives? If it is, ask if you can park your RV and stay on their property. Many will not have a problem allowing you to do so if they have a large yard or driveway. You may be able to save yourself a considerable amount of money, especially on extended trips when staying somewhere for free. Another option to consider, especially if you run into a location with no availability, is that it is common for some to stay at large store parking lots. Walmart is a common option there. There are no facilities, no electric hookup, no water or sewer etc. but for the short term, it does offer an option if needed.
RV parks and campgrounds with motor home accommodations are popular ways for RVers to spend their nights on RV trips. The best way to go about researching all of your options is by using the internet. A standard internet search, with your intended destination, is best. If you will be travelling in Eastern Canada, choose your search phrase carefully. It would help to use terms such as “New Brunswick RV parks,” or “Nova Scotia RV campgrounds.”
Plan Your RV Trip Thoroughly In Advance
If you do choose to stay at a campground with RV accommodations or an RV park, don’t pick the first one that you come across. This is a great way to make sure that you find the overnight accommodation that is best for you and your needs. Many areas have multiple RV parks and campgrounds to choose from. If you start your planning early, you should be able to thoroughly examine the cost of each of your options. You can also look at a park or campground feature, like swimming pools, hiking trails, and so forth.
