But the Same Heart Behind It

You may have noticed that things are looking a little different around A Parent’s Perspective.
Over the past little while, I have been working on updating the logos and visual identity for A Parent’s Perspective. This has meant experimenting with new designs, refining the imagery, adjusting layouts for different platforms, and trying to create something that better reflects what this space has become.
But while the look may be changing, the heart behind it is not.
A Parent’s Perspective has always been about Autism • Family • Advocacy • Real Life.
Those four things remain at the centre of everything I write, share, question, challenge, celebrate, and fight for.
The updated logo brings together several important elements: a colourful rainbow puzzle arc, family imagery, and the name A Parent’s Perspective. Together, they represent the many different parts of this journey, the love, the challenges, the uncertainty, the advocacy, the frustration, the humour, the exhaustion, the victories, and the very real life that happens in between.
For me, this was never about simply creating something prettier.
It was about creating something that feels more like us.
Our family has spent years navigating autism, education, disability, advocacy, bureaucracy, inclusion, exclusion, and the countless everyday experiences that rarely fit neatly into a brochure or inspirational quote.
Real family life is complicated.
Autism is complicated.
Advocacy is complicated.
And sometimes, loving someone fiercely means speaking up when it would be much easier to stay quiet.
That is what A Parent’s Perspective has always been about.
Why Update the Logo Now?
As the website and our social media presence have continued to grow, the old branding no longer felt like it fully represented where we are today or where this platform is heading. And let’s be honest, it was getting a bit dated. Life has changed a lot since those designs were originally created; the family has grown up, we have gotten older, and life has continued to move forward.
The updated designs will create a more consistent identity. It provides consistency across the website, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms. The intent is to still preserve the warmth and meaning behind the original concept.
Different platforms also have very different requirements. A logo that works beautifully on a website may not work as a Facebook profile image. A YouTube banner must remain readable on televisions, computers, tablets, and mobile phones. Vertical platforms require yet another approach.
So rather than forcing one image to do everything, the new visual identity includes variations designed to work together while remaining recognizable as A Parent’s Perspective.
- Same family.
- Same voice.
- Same advocacy.
- Same willingness to talk about the things that are sometimes uncomfortable but need to be said.
Just a stronger and more consistent visual identity.
More Than a Logo
A logo cannot tell our whole story.
- It cannot explain the years of advocating for a severely autistic child.
- It cannot capture the exhaustion that comes from fighting systems that should be helping families rather than creating more barriers.
- It cannot show the joy of watching your children succeed, the fear that comes with an uncertain future, or the determination that grows when someone you love is treated unfairly.
But it can represent the place where those stories are told.
And that is what I hope the new logo does.
The rainbow of colours reflects the complexity and individuality found within autism and family life. The family imagery represents what has always been at the centre of this platform. And the words beneath the name say exactly what you can expect to find here:
Autism • Family • Advocacy • Real Life
- Not a polished version of family life.
- Not advocacy without emotion.
- Not autism reduced to slogans, awareness campaigns, or one-size-fits-all answers.

- Real experiences.
- Real frustrations.
- Real questions.
- Real victories.
- Real people.
The Next Chapter
This update is part of a broader effort to continue growing A Parent’s Perspective and reaching more families, parents, advocates, and people who understand what it means to fight for someone they love.
- There will continue to be posts about autism and disability.
- There will continue to be discussions about education, inclusion, human rights, and advocacy.
- There will continue to be family stories, travel, humour, everyday life, and maybe even sharing some of the recipes passed on through our family.
Because real life does not fit into one category.
Neither do we.
So yes, A Parent’s Perspective has a new look.
But the mission remains exactly where it has always been:
- To share honestly.
- To support families.
- To question systems that need questioning.
- To advocate when advocacy is necessary.
- To push for understanding and inclusion.
And above all, to never forget the love behind the fight.
