Our family vehicle is used a lot and this means staying on top of all the standard maintenance like oil changes, tires and more.
My youngest daughter has a rare eye condition, that leaves her partially blind in one eye. For the moment she wears glasses, but she will eventually have eye corrective surgery as well. Because of her age as well as the complexity of the work involved, many of our appointments are at the IWK children’s hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is over 3 hours drive away. Add all of this together and you can understand how come it is so important to keep our vehicle well maintained and yet at an affordable price.

While it would be nice to be able to do all this maintenance work myself, and I do actually do some of it. It is impossible to find time to do it all. In the winter, and the slush and the wet, oil changes can become a project you want to have a mechanic do.
I have found that our local Walmart actually is quite quick and does a very good job when doing oil changes. Among the advantages I find with them is the ability to choose what oil I want to use. I try to use top quality oil in my vehicle simply because of how much we travel in it and I tend to use Quaker State simply because it is one of the best, especially when dealing with a vehicle that is used a lot and for long distances.
I actually took my vehicle to Walmart just two days before Christmas, and they still managed to have my vehicle in and serviced in less then an hour, even with the whole Christmas rush thing, that had the store packed beyond belief.
