This time of year we constantly are on the look out for gifts for father’s day. However, we sometimes forget to stop and pay attention to what dad really wants. Every year our fathers try subtly passing off hints as to what would be a good father’s day present this year. Still most years we all tend to fall back on old faithful socks, ties, shirts and maybe a card.
How many times has dad talked about needing to replace his string trimmer. Perhaps he was suggested that his gas one was a tad noisy and he wished he had a battery operated one. How many times has he stood in the hardware store just looking at the lawn and garden equipment. Wishing that he had some of the fancy new toys.
We all see it, and then when it comes times to look for father’s day presents we quickly forget.
With less then a week left until Father’s Day, it is prime thinking time. We should remind ourselves that perhaps for some of our dads a nice new 60V Cordless String Trimmer from Black+Decker might be just the gift he is really after.

I have used a number of different trimmers over the years. A big gas guzzler that was noisy, and smelly. I had to take it apart every time I wanted to feed the string, because it just didn’t want to work right. The gutless little electric one that bent more grass then it cut. In addition, I really hate trying to get really close to things to make sure I get all the grass so I was definitely in the market for a nice new Trimmer.
I am actually super impressed with Black+Deckers new 60V line. I have a few other Black+Decker tools already including a 20V drill I reviewed at Christmas. One of my earliest cordless drills was also a B+D model that was top of the line at the time it came out. I have found over the years that B+D tends to produce a very high quality product.
This trimmer is no different. It features a push button string feeder on the handle to make it easier to lengthen the string as necessary. I was impressed to find a lockout mechanism on the handle requiring a button to be pushed before the Trimmer could be turned on. This particular safety feature, that is often found on hand tools is something that I really feel is important.
Lithium 60V Battery Seems To Last Longer
The battery last a fairly long time. I trimmed around the entire yard once and went back out today and did half the yard again before the batter finally died. This is actually quite a substantial length of time, much better then any other battery trimmer I have personally used. The trimmer seems to be designed so that the trimmer runs at full power right up until it shuts off. This all adds up to make it a superb machine. I believe it is a great gift for the father that does not already have one.
