Watch the Trailer:
From the beloved novels by Michael Bond and producer David Heyman (HARRY POTTER), PADDINGTON tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.
My youngest daughter tends not to be that thrilled with movies that mix cartoons with real people (she likes just the cartoon version). When she heard I had this movie she was initially thrilled because she loves the Paddington books, but when she realized the movie was mixed she was hesitant. She decided that she would watch it anyway, and then she went back and watched it again. She still has mixed feelings about other movies that mix characters but she was totally thrilled with Paddington and his antics.
I have a little secret though, I let my kids watch this movie while I was working on other things. After I put them to bed on the other hand, I decided I wanted to watch it myself. So I cued it up and spent the next hour and a half enjoying the movie while my kids slept.
It is a great kids movie, a good family movie even, but all in all it is a movie that even the adults can sit down and have a chuckle and a giggle at (and maybe wonder why stuff like this was not around when we were kids).
