Fun On The Road With Ford

Our family recently had the chance to head out on vacation to Ontario. It is a trip we had been discussing off and on for a few years but this spring my wife decided that this year we were going to make all the proper preparations and planning and actually take the time to do it and do it right.
What made it even better was that we had the chance to do the trip in a brand new 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium. While we used this vehicle because of our trip, it is also a great idea if you are planning on getting rid of an old clunker as well.
One of the major first look advantages to this car was its gas mileage which lists at 10.6 l/100km in the city and 7l /100km on the highway. I reset the mileage monitor when I left home, travelled 17 hours to the KOA where we stayed the first two nights, travelled all around Toronto including stops at Casa Loma, Ripley’s Aquarium, on day one, Canada’s Wonderland on Day 2, Shifted to the hotel for a couple of nights. We went to Niagara Falls on Day 3 to see Bird Kingdom and Marineland, and managed to see the falls on our way by. On the fourth day, we drove 11 hours up to the north of Montreal and then another 11 hours drive back home again. On that entire trip, our gas mileage was 8.8 litres per 100 kilometres. Even though we did a lot of rush hour traffic in Toronto we still had a very gas efficient trip.
Now the newest vehicle I have ever owned was two years old when I bought it and most have been in the 5 to 8-year-old range so getting in a new vehicle was a treat, but getting in a top-line Titanium model with all the bells and whistles is something everyone has got to experience at least once in a while.
Ford has some great features.
There were three features in the car that really impressed me. First and biggest of all was the adaptive cruise. The adaptive cruise automatically matches your speed to the vehicle in front of you, if your cruise control speed is higher then the speed the car in front is travelling. Personally I find this feature was great and numerous times I looked down to find us travelling significantly slower then the speed I had put on the cruise because a car was travelling below the speed limit. A very good safety feature.
The second was the Backup Camera. I suspect many people have gotten this feature on their newer vehicles, but for me, this was the first time I had ever used a vehicle with a backup camera. When you add on proximity sensors that can tell when vehicles are within a certain distance from you (even in your blind spot) and giving you the full view of the rear area of your car while reversing it really is another huge safety feature.
The third feature that really impressed me was the built-in GPS. Again I have not driven with a GPS so it was new to me. Using the GPS was easy and simple after a few little tests but I think the most impressive thing about it was the feature that required you enter your details while you were in park. This again is a great little safety feature that keeps you from fiddling around and losing concentration when you are supposed to be driving.

This was also the first time that we had tried to put the whole family (5 of us) into a car. We had been using Minivans until a couple of years ago when we switched to using SUV’s instead but never a car. It was surprising how much room there was. We managed to pack an entire trip into the trunk without leaving anything behind, the kids all had a fair amount of room and it was comfortable enough that we never had any issues between the kids for our entire trip.
I have to thank Matthew Estabrooks (Internet Sales Manager for Taylor Ford) and Christina Aubrecht from National Public Relations for working with me to make this opportunity a great success for my family. This trip would not have been as successful and fun as it was without this car.

I love the idea of adaptive cruise as I know it bugs me when person ahead is going just a few kms less and I have to put on brakes. The built in GPS sounds pretty sweet also.
I’m not at all keen on a built in GPS, I’ve heard of quite a few cases where people have had their cars broken into just to get the GPS unit out. Mileage isn’t very good either, in this day and age it should be much better I feel.
The built in GPS sounds like a good addition
This must be a sweet ride
My first car was a Ford Focus and I loved driving it. I still miss it!
This looks like a wonderful car! I really like the back up camera feature – it certainly would come in VERY handy
a built in GPS?? that is amazing! i think it is an excellent feature to have

Looks like a nice ride! We are a Ford family, right now we have a Focus and love it!
With a built in gps those paper maps can finally be put to rest!
I love the built in GPS!
This looks like great car with a lot of good features.
The backup camera is such an awesome feature — I can’t believe it took this long to become standard in most vehicles!
I like the idea of adaptive cruise , I never had cruise but if I were to have it adaptive cruise would be it!
Really like the back up camera feature, also the built-in GPS. Ford rocks.
We have always enjoyed the Ford vehicles that we’ve owned.
I really like the Fusion. I test drove one but got a Focus instead. If I had to do over would have gotten the Fusion.
I like the idea of the adaptive cruise control and a built in GPS! Wow! That’s Awesome!
sounds like an amazing car..we all love the feel of a new vehicle..
I like that it has a back up camera.
I really like the idea of the adaptive cruise control and a built in GPS
Back up camera is new to me as well…..amazing features all round!
Growing up we always had a Ford in the driveway! Love Ford cars!
Thanks for the great travel advise.
I love my minivan ….we are able to pack so much into it but with two kids and a dog now we require a roof top cargo box too! But it’s good to now there are cars out there with lots of trunk space. Especially since lots of manufacturers are getting out of vans.
I think this sounds like a great car with just enough room but still not too big. It’s great to hear that it has good mileage.
Nice car. I have had some really nice Ford cars that have run really good in the past.
What a super nice car and the titanium on top of that. Love all the features.
