Last week, a playground in Centennial Park in Moncton got a makeover, courtesy of Tangerine, the City of Moncton, Bienenstock Playgrounds and some local community volunteers. 150 Tangerine team members, Bienenstock and local community volunteers came together for a one-day park revitalization project. An older small park that was fun even though it was well past its prime was revitalized into an excellent natural playground for local children. The build finished late in the afternoon after a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the final park, which included some brief remarks from Mayor George LeBlanc, Chief Operating Officer of Tangerine, Ian Cunningham, and CEO & Principal Designer of Bienenstock Playgrounds, Adam Bienenstock.
About Bienenstock Natural Playground
Since 1984, Bienenstock has been building better parks and playgrounds that celebrate nature. They look at logs, landforms, boulders and trees as a perfect palette for play. Bienenstock’s unique approach to community engagement, child development, and youth empowerment has earned them a large international following. Their natural playgrounds consistently rank most popular in the communities where they work.

As you can see by the pictures my kids had a ball helping out. Which ended with them playing on some of the equipment when it was over. The girls always love the chance to lend a hand when something needs doing. Even at 12 this is not the first time my oldest girl has been involved in volunteering. It was overall a great day. The kids had fun, the volunteers I talked to were having a blast, the kids in the neighbourhood will have fun on the new equipment. This was one of those great experiences where everyone wins.

I am a part of installing such Nature Play Spaces at the elementary schools in the cities surrounding me. The great part is we get the children involved in planting a garden area that is part of the play space as well. The kids love it!
