National Trail Day was on June 5th this year and interestingly enough it was also the day my youngest had off school because all Kindergarteners in her school had the day off to allow next years kindergarteners to come in to meet the teachers etc.
Now my wife and I have been daily (weather permitting) doing a 4 km walk along a local riverfront trail after we drop the kids off to school each morning so we decided to take our littlest one along for the day. While she is small she is incredibly high energy so the walk would do her good.
Near where we turn at the halfway point of our walk is a small kids playground so we decided to let her play around on them a bit and she was climbing all over the equipment like a fun little monkey.
On the way back through, my eye caught this neat little Ladybug sitting on a tree branch just about eye level. Our daughter has always found ladybugs to be totally cool because they are red and she loves them, so she was thrilled to see it there.
What was even more interesting was as we got almost to the end of the trail, on our way back to the car. The town had put in some neat bird houses and they get used every year, but today sitting on the branch on the top of the tree house was this cute little blue bird. He sat there while we took a bunch of pictures and got really close even though my daughter was climbing around on a brick wall nearby.
Once we got home and picked up the older two children, we gave them each a Kinder Egg to enjoy. We were lucky and managed to pick up some of the end of the Minions stock at the store. My kids have really gotten in to the Minion toys and are trying to see how many they can collect before they disappear off the shelves.
All in All I think It was a good day.

We love being outside and seeing nature and all it has to offer. The other day we had a deer with her twin fawns outside our door they were just lovely.
