Disclosure: LEGO provided me with two advent calendars to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
Over the years people have become more and more interested in advent calendars. As that interest has grown, the variety of advent calendars has grown with it. From the initial concepts of little chocolate surprises, to now toys, and just about anything you can think of. There are even home made versions that some give to their friends to share the season.
LEGO has added a number of advent calendars to the mix. Every day during the month of December, we get to open up a window and find a different buildable lego piece. We started doing this with our kids right on the first and it is fun watching them open their windows every day. They check out the picture and put together their new toys.
We have the LEGO: Star Wars and LEGO City.
It is interesting. While I enjoy LEGO, I don’t have any, besides some review models I had last year. All three of my kids love to open their windows, but it is really the youngest one who is the most into putting them together. Even last year when I did the other reviews, it was my littlest one who was the most interested in playing with them.
LEGO Advent Calendars Are Fun Buildable Toys
The advent calendars are a great opportunity to give your kids a bit of fun. They also get little toys in the lead up to Christmas. More important though, is it can give you a great insight into which of your kids are really interested. It allows you to determine which kids are a great candidate for LEGO sets for Christmas. One of my favorite gifts besides books when I was younger was getting additional LEGO to add to my set. I could sit and build for hours. And since this was the old sets 30 years ago, you can imagine how few specialty pieces I had to work with. LEGO is a great tool to gauge your kids imaginations and to give you ideas as to how to steer them as they get older.

We love Advent Calendars and have always purchased them for the kids. We get ones filled with Chocolates, I’ve seen some for adults with wine/beer/cheese/meats/cigars ….. we don’t get ones with toys for the children as we figure Christmas covers that category pretty good!

Great ideas for advent calendars! I like this better than having too much chocolate for my kids to eat 😉
