Disclosure: I received Jet Boat Tour for my family to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
I have always been intrigued by riding the rapids. However I simply do not have the skills to do it in any form of boat on my own. Over the years I have also been interested in the concept of jet boats and the speed and fun they offer.
It is almost impossible to explain the fun we had, when I had the opportunity this year to include a jet boat ride up some of the rapids in the niagara river below the falls. While there were some areas that we were not legally allowed to go, even in a massive enclosed jet boat, because of how dangerous they were, we did some impressive rapids runs that were both mind blowing and body shaking.
The Jet Boat Turns In A Quiet Spot In The Middle Of Rapids.
At the farthest point we were allowed to go, there is a cool little whirlpool, surrounded by what many would mistakenly think was a quiet head pond. However the currents below the surface would prove to much for a swimmer.
We made a number of runs down the rapids between the whirlpool and the hydro dams. It was so cool watching the water flow over the glass dome. Our youngest is so small we felt that the open boats would be to much for her. The dips and dives through the troughs were a lot of fun even in the dry. What was even better was that even our autistic son had a ball.
The guide even told us things about various features as we went up the river. Showing us a neat mini waterfall up by the whirlpool that is only viewable from the water. He talked about the difference between the Canadian and US Hydro Dams and other features on the trip. The Dams were located halfway down the river. What was even more fun is that because they are operated by the same company, the guide on our jet boat was actually be of the waiters off our dinner cruise.

When we went to the falls we didn’t do any boats. Regret that!
