When Miles Got Mad US/Can Ends May 28

The Mother Company has offered me an opportunity to review their new book When Miles Got Mad and to offer a copy to one of my readers.

Personally the book was an interesting read and I felt it could be useful in helping our autistic son learn some tips for when he got upset. Because of the uniqueness of autism this as always required some modification to help him apply it, however I found that when we used the book, in conjunction with trying to help him understand how to moderate his upset that there were some definitive improvements. In my mind it is definitely worth the effort and can be another great tool in the arsenal of special needs parents trying to help their children cope with their unique and specific concerns.

When Miles Got Mad

April 3, 2013, Los Angeles, CA – The Mother Company announces the release of their latest book helping children with emotional literacy.  Entitled When Miles Got Mad, the hardcover book helps children ages 2-6 recognize, express and move through the often-overwhelming feeling of anger. Distributed by Ingram, the book will be available April 16, 2013 in bookstores nationwide and via www.TheMotherCo.com for MSRP of $12.95.

“We wanted to explore the very real out-of-control feeling children have when they experience deep anger and encourage them to use their words to get through it,” says Abbie Schiller, The Mother Company’s Founder.  “This book offers solutions in a fun, engaging way and can be an invaluable resource for families struggling with tantrums and other big (and often scary) emotions. ” Adds Samantha Kurtzman-Counter, The Mother Company’s President and the book’s author.

When Miles Got Mad

When his little brother breaks his favorite toy airplane, MILES GETS MAD. As his anger swells, he suddenly catches sight of himself in the mirror – but instead of his own reflection, a furry red monster with big round eyes and funny teeth stares back at him.  By encouraging Miles to use words to express his anger, the Mad Monster helps Miles move through this big emotion to calm himself.  Through this fun story and adorable illustrations, this insightful and entertaining children’s book offers much-needed comfort to young children as they struggle to regulate their emotions.
